About New Zealand Glassworks

New Zealand Glassworks – Te Whare Tūhua O Te Ao (NZG) is the first national centre for art glass in the country and is helping to unify the already established community of glass artists here in Whanganui and New Zealand.

NZG is an exciting and interactive community glass facility open to the entire community.
COVID-19: NZG Facilities Closed Indefinitely.

Nothing is more important to New Zealand Glassworks than the health and safety of our students, artists, visitors, and staff. Under the guidance of the Whanganui District Council and recent announcements from the Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation, we regretfully announce the NZG glass facilities will be closed indefinitely as a precautionary measure.

We have a responsibility to safeguard the health and safety of everyone, and we must proactively do our part to promote social distancing and limit the spread of COVID-19.

We will publish updates related to reopening on our website and social platforms.

New Zealand Glassworks is enriching the arts and building on Whanganui’s existing reputation as a city for glass art excellence.
