'Wings of Parentheses' | Claudia Borella

Canberra born artist, graduating with two degrees in Industrial Design from the University of Canberra and Fine Arts with first class honours specialising in Glass at the world renowned Canberra School of Art Glass Department at ANU, her graduate year were the founding committee for the development of the Canberra Glassworks. Invited to teach glass full-time in New Zealand in 2001, Borella has been practising glass for over 25 years. Inspired by Klaus Moje’s pioneering influence, Borella continues to provide opportunities for international artists who specifically utilise Bullseye Glass in New Zealand. In 2007, as Founder and Director of Claudia Borella Glass Design Ltd. she became the distributor and Bullseye Kiln-glass Resource Center Preferred Partner in New Zealand introducing MAP, a Master Artist Program providing access education under the guidance of international master artists. Intensive 5-10 day courses allow individuals to experience and explore various techniques using Bullseye Glass. Acknowledged by the University of Canberra in 2012 as Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor for achievements in her field, Borella has continued to exhibit worldwide most recently completing a private commission for a Head of State vacation property in Abu Dhabi. Borella has won numerous international awards and is represented by many collections and museums worldwide including that of Sir Elton John. A genuine art glass piece still handmade by the artist for any astute collector of glass art.
