Sculptural piece inspired by objects from deep space.

Making large scale works is exactly like a choreographed dance where the ensemble of glass artists works as one to create expressive, movement suggestive sculptural works in hot glass. Stokes architectural sculptures and installations can be found in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong, and the Sheraton Hotel in Xiamen, China amongst many others. He is a regular speaker at creative forums and his work is highly sought after by the private sector.

Philip Stokes completed a Bachelor of Applied Arts with Honours in 2000 at Monash University and was awarded the Pilchuck Partnership Scholarship in recognition of his outstanding student work. He has owned and run his own studio since 2002 and until 2015 was located in Cremorne, Victoria, Australia. His open studio provided hot shop and polishing work access for his contemporaries and looked to support emerging and established glass artists with workshops and with provision of a vibrant arena for creative exchange and dialogue. His art work and business practice won the 2011 North link Chairmans Special Recognition Award at the Northern Business Achievement Awards 2011.

Philip Stokes is one of Australasia's leading contemporary glass artists and now spends his time between Melbourne Australia and New Zealand, refining, expanding and exploring the craft of glass.
