Brendon Sole first discovered hot glass whilst doing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Whanganui in 2002. He was so taken with the immediacy and almost limitless design possibility of the medium that he decided to study glass full time and completed a diploma in glass production.
Brendon has developed a unique body of work which reflects his own perspectives on studio glass in a New Zealand setting. He worked with Katie Brown and Lyndsay Patterson at Chronicle Glass, as well as teaching numerous glass workshops.
Brendon’s glass work revolves around patterns and motifs present in New Zealand nature. Paua patterns, flowing wave forms, clear starry night skies and bark textures all take part in fueling the inspiration for his glass art process.
