I first discovered hot glass while attending a bachelor of fine arts degree in Wanganui in 2002. I was so taken with the medium, its immediacy of creation and its almost limitless design potential that I elected to study glass full time.
3 years later I graduated with a glass diploma specializing in hot glass processes and off-hand glass blowing techniques. My body of work was already reflecting my own unique perspectives on studio glass in a New Zealand setting.
In early 2006 I was offered the position of assistant at the Chronicle glass blowing studio. In this role as assistant I work with the studio owners Katie Brown and Lyndsay Patterson in the creation of their many and greatly varied glass works.
My own work revolves around patterns and motifs present in nature in New Zealand. Paua patterns, flowing wave forms, clear starry night skies and bark textures are but a few of the things that inspire my work.
